Please join us for a conversation between Ingar Dragset and Pedro Gómez-Egaña, where they will talk about their experience from the Istanbul Biennial last year and biennials in general. They have extensive experience from this exhibition format, as artists and curator. Ingar Dragset is one half of the artist duo Elmgreen&Dragset that curated the 2017 Istanbul Biennial titled A Good Neighbour, where Gómez-Egaña participated with the work Domain of Things.

 

This Monday Lecture happens in collaboration with Curatorial Practice, which has a focus on biennials for their February seminar. Anne Szefer Karlsen, Associate Professor Curatorial Practice will be moderator.

Ingar Dragset is one half of the artist duo Elmgreen&Dragset. They have worked together as an artist duo since 1995, and exhibited widely within biennial format. They have exhibited in the Istanbul Biennial in 2001, 2011 and 2013, in 2007 they took part in Skulptur Projekte Münster, in 2011 they took part in the performance biennial Performa 11 and in 2012 they exhibited in the Liverpool Biennial. For the 53rd Venice Biennale in 2009 they curated the exhibition The Collectors in the neighboring Danish and Nordic Pavilions (which include Norway, Sweden, and Denmark), an unprecedented merging of two international exhibition venues. And in 2017 they curated the Istanbul Biennial, which they titled A Good Neighbour.

 

Pedro Gómez-Egaña is a professor at KMD, and a widely exhibited artist who also has taken part in several biennials. Latest the Contour Biennial, the 9th Norwegian Sculpture Biennial and the Istanbul Biennial in 2017, the Kochi-Muziris Biennial in 2016, the Lofoten International Art Festival–LIAF and performance biennial Performa13 in 2013, the 3rd AiM International Biennale in Marrakech in 2009), the 1st Brussels Biennial in 2008
