Curator Ekaterina Sharova will present her current project, Arctic Art Forum.

Arctic Art Forum gathers artists, musicians and poets from Arkhangelsk, Murmansk, Saint Petersburg, Komi Republic, Moscow, Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki, Alaska (USA), Lithuania and others.

Next Forum takes place in November 2018 in Arkhangelsk, Euro-Arctic Russia.

The Forum is run by a group of young curators and producers.
In 2016, the Forum had a topic Embodied Knowledge, and it gave a start to the local research under a new methodological frame and rediscovery of the forgotten cultural treasury of the Russian North. The region has kept the most ancient knowledge about Russian history of culture, which importance is clear for folklore researchers, but not for a broader Russian and international public. The region has been heavily traumatized during the Soviet years, both regarding the local identity influenced by ideology. In 2010s, the region seems to have a new start of its revival, due to both raising interest to pre-Soviet history of Russia and the new possibilities in the Arctic. In 2017, the Forum's theme was Slow Culture, which was a comment to the current social, economic, cultural changes in the Russian North, where large corporations are taking over the center of the town, and where the current post-Soviet management lack knowledge on innovations and design thinking. Still, the strategy of Arctic Art Forum is not about criticism in the context with no tradition for that, rather it is about education and providing meeting places where people-topeople collaboration and solution-oriented processes are central. The main focus in 2017 was at design, architecture, technology and local economy. Decentralization, social and cultural experiment, learning the history anew are the central goals of the Forum. Culture is seen as a part of everyday life and a sum of everyday sensations, and the bodily experience has been a starting point for the work of curators/producers.

In 2018, the Forum develops further and Ekaterina will tell about possibilities for artists.
