The dancer Phitthaya Phaefuang, alias Sun, is currently creating a solo performance based on his mother's past as a sex worker. Sun is part of BIT Teatergarasjen’s residency program and the Nordic Residency Exchange Program spring 2021. In connection with his stay in Bergen, Sun comes to Monday lectures to talk about his art practise and the solo performance.

With this performance he wishes to celebrate his mother, and seeks to explore the social, economic, and gendered aspects of selling sex in Thailand. The title Luk Kreung comes from a Thai term used to describe Thai people with dual or multiple heritage, and it used to carry a stigma as many Luk Kreung were a product of foreigners and Thai sex workers.

How can performance of serving sex appeal be mindful? Could compassion go beyond intellectuality? And how can dharma be alive in your presence?
