In this lecture, artistic research fellow Kjersti Sundland will present parts of her current research, looking at the phenomena of the haunted body in relation to communication technology. As social control is becoming more omnipresent through our communication technology, are there forces resisting this omnipresence, manifesting themselves in transmission of media? Is this anomaly to be found as a phantom presence in our public and social spaces, in our language, and ways we relate and communicate with each other? Throughout the research project, Sundland is using the séance as a guiding metaphor, and a filter, where political, social and cultural ghostly matters can be addressed and materialized.

Before entering into the national artistic research program, Sundland was employed as assistant professor in New Media at Khib, the former KMD.
