Morton Feldman developed a very personal and intuitive approach to creating large-scale compositional forms. The music provides a kind of memory exercise for the listener, whereby the very act of perception can be investigated.

Audience members are encouraged to bring a yoga mat to the performance, but there will of course also be chairs available for those who prefer this.

“Intuition” is the main topic for the Artistic Research Project Sounding Philosophy in the Spring of 2023. We initiate these conferences with this groundbreaking work, performed by a champion of contemporary music.

Following the concert, there will be a conference at the Grieg Academy on Monday, January 16, 2023 from 12:30 – 14:30 in Prøvesalen.

In this conference, the music of Morton Feldman will be introduced followed by an open panel-discussion about Triadic Memories. A main topic will be how intuition plays a role in the creation and reception of this work, in the music of Feldman as well as in music in general. The discussion will be led by Dániel Péter Biró, Professor for Composition and leader of the Artistic Research Project Sounding Philosophy and will involve Einar Røttingen, Maria Mjaaland Sele, Annabel Balean Guaita and members of nyMusikk Bergen.

Price ticket: Free
