All kind of project proposals are welcomed. However, Joy Forum emphasizes that they are looking for projects that aim to break the traditional exhibition format. This could mean open-ended projects that take forms like presentations, concerts, exhibitions, screenings, rituals or any other kind of event. Of course, the open call is also open to and welcomes works within more traditional mediums, yet encourages playful thinking about ways of presentation and use of materials.

The exhibition period can vary from one night only to a three week-long project.

The application should consist of:
- name
- e-mail
- brief project description / proposal
- brief artist statement
- 3-7 images
- cv
- desired application period/time frame

All the above should be submitted as ONE (1) PDF-FILE to joy.forum.kmd@gmail.com
Subject line: ”Application JOY 19/20”

Applications must be received by Sunday September 8th 12.00 (noon).

Joy Forum is an independent gallery and exhibition space run by a group of students and staff at the Faculty of Fine Art, Design and Music at the University of Bergen (UiB).

Joy Forum will appear as a kind of anti-statement and anti-architecture in confrontation with the surrounding building. The space is constructed using materials from the ‘Test Room’ built on the neighboring industrial site. This is where the materials used in the KMD institution were tested by Snöhetta. The outer walls of Joy Forum are simply the infrastructure elements that are usually otherwise hidden within the wall. The inside of the room serves as a white-cube suitable for everything from small presentations, exhibitions, screenings, intimate concerts and performances and the like.

In this ambiguous area between joy, sincerity and beauty as well as the feeling of powerlessness and despair, Joy Forum wants to initiate a democratic open platform with the participation of all disciplines. Joy Forum is an independent space in the institution, a place for expressing any and every emotion.
