It is the fifteenth time that students from the Department of Design at the Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design (KMD), University of Bergen, (formerly Bergen Academy of Art and Design) participate.

This year, the students present objects that, in various ways, are based on the sustainable goals of the UN: climate and environment, economy and social conditions. Sustainable development is about protecting the needs of people living today without destroying future generations opportunities to cover their demands. The objects are full-scale prototypes that explore different ways to meet future requirements. Some have worked with leftover materials from production, some with self-production while others have focused on the conversation about sustainability.

- Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair is a very important arena for students to showcase. It establishes contact between students and manufacturers, which in many cases have led to the prototypes exhibited as a new design at the fair next year, says project manager Steinar Hindenes, design professor at the Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design (KMD).

The eleven students are at their third year at the bachelor's degree in design with specialization in furniture and room design / interior architecture at KMD. These are: Ali Gallefoss, Imkeliene Boersma, Janne Maria Seljelid, Lea Rahel Hess, Lina Haveland, Karoline Gullaksen, Marthe Høyheim Lægreid, Madelen Holten Larsen, Martine Tislevold Odland, Silje Tombre.

Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair is the world's largest meeting place for Scandinavian furniture and lighting design, and will take place this year from 6th to 10th February 2018.

Here students and newly established designers get an unique opportunity to connect with manufacturers and to show themselves to the press and others in the industry.

Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair has positioned itself as the most important exhibition for Scandinavian design in the world.
