Research Projects

The faculty systematically fosters academic discussion to challenge the limits of academic understanding within fine art, music and design.

Every year, the faculty allocates resources for artistic and other research projects and publications. Funding for research projects and publications is overseen by a separate research committee. The committee is chaired by the Dean, has external majority, and draws on broad international cooperation. Three of the four external members are faculty members at relevant European institutions that assign high priority to artistic research. One member has a background in the Norwegian university and research system.

Applications for funding are reviewed according to established guidelines based on international research conferences, while at the same time reflecting the Norwegian framework for artistic and other research. Twice a year, academic staff can apply for support for major research projects or publications. The Committee for Artistic Research also reviews internal applications for the Project Programme under the umbrella of the Norwegian Artistic Research Programme and other strategic research initiatives.
