An artistic research project led by Professor Hilde Kramer at the Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design, University of Bergen.

Asking how illustration may communicate profound human issues considered unrepresented or non-representable, the project explores narratives about “us” and “the others” through illustration. There are four branches of the project: Hvis dette var et menneske, Book of Remembrance, Sound as Illustration and The Face between Us.

The  project has had two cross-disciplinary symposia; Transposition as Artistic Practice in 2020 and Materiality, Space and Embodiment in 2021.  In February 2023 the Work in Process seminar takes place at KMD followed by the final symposium, The Non-Representable,  held at Falstad Centre, Trondelag in June 2023.
