KABILA Stéphane
Curator and researcher
Born in 1993, Kabila is a curator and researcher based in Lubumbashi D.R.Congo. He is part of the exhibition coordinator team to the Livingstone office for Contemporary Art in Livingstone Zambia. He is member of the Lubumbashi working group of Another Roadmap of Arts Education Africa Cluster, a network of researchers and practitioners studying collaboratively the histories, policies and possible alternative practices in arts education. He works at Waza art center in projects involving library and exhibition curating, talks and critical writings. At the Lubumbashi university, he is coordinator of Cogito Litteris, an association and a publication by students from the humanities department. Kabila is student to the MA Curatorial study program at the Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design at the University of Bergen (KMD) in Norway.
Kabila’s curatorial practice is multidisciplinary. His work starts from philosophical theories passing through the humanities. He works at the intersection between thoughts and artistic and curatorial practices, opening them to the public through various mediums: dialogues and exhibition’s productions. He is interested in the way mobility of knowledge, including movement of people, ideas, objects and trades affect our everyday lives.
