Kromatikk - er et forprosjekt om mangfold i kunstfag som undersøker ulike perspektiver, praksiser og pedagogikker knyttet til mangfold i kunstfag. Prosjektet er knyttet til praktisk-pedagogisk utdanning i Kunst, Musikk og Design (KMD) ved Universitetet i Bergen.

Postcolonialism and Music Studies: Issues, Challenges, and Prospects, and a Norwegian Case Study / Thomas Solomon
Since the turn of the millennium music scholars have increasingly become aware of the relevance of postcolonial approaches for understanding contemporary and historical musical life. The first part of this presentation will introduce some central concepts from postcolonial theory. The second part will apply some of those concepts in a discussion of the Norwegian performance group Fargespill.
Bio
Thomas Solomon is Professor of Musicology in the Grieg Academy – Department of Music at the University of Bergen. He has done field research in Bolivia on musical imaginations of ecology, place and identity, and in Istanbul on place and identity in Turkish hip-hop; he has also published on various theoretical topics in ethnomusicology and popular music studies. His publications include articles in the journals Ethnomusicology, Popular Music, European Journal of Cultural Studies, and Yearbook for Traditional Music, as well numerous papers in edited volumes. He is also editor or co-editor of three books.
