b.1996, he/him, (Sweden). Jonas Olov Holmstrand b.1996 he/him (SV) is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice explores memory, identity, and the intersections of history and fiction. Initially focused on painting, his work expanded with the introduction to printmaking. Utilizing archival research, photography, and print-based methods he reconstruct and reinterpret personal and collective histories. Often influenced by literary explorations of truth and contradiction he engages with the instability of historical narratives. By weaving together fact, fiction, and material process, his work questions what is remembered, what is forgotten, and how history is continually reshaped through time. The materiality and methodology of printmaking allow him to examine the fragmentation of history and memory, embracing imperfection and experimentation as central themes.
