Bio

My artistic practice addresses issues around the concept of identity through exploring a multicultural existence. As a Hungarian with Slavic origins, living in Norway, I am interested in building a bridge between contemporary narratives. I was born in 1985, and I belong to the post-soviet generation who needs to deal with the cultural heritage of the totalitarian trauma of Soviet communism and it´s aftereffects. Because of my personal experience as an immigrant, I am interested in investigating the experience of cultural discrepancies, the creation of social identity and the closely related questions of discrimination. Being between two cultures means a constant transition to me. Temporarily resting in one state, before I am rushed further in doubt of belonging anywhere. I perceive my own experiences as a representation of displacement and an intensified tension of cultural discrepancies. Thus, the subject is personal, but it serves the collective rather than individual memory.
