BA Fine Art 2026
There’s something to be said about the subject as object and the object as subject, and the statue in this photo existing somewhere in the space between the two. The statue itself turns the human form into an inanimate object; cold, solid and lifeless. The photo, in turn, with its moody lighting and intimate composition, brings back some human qualities in the statue, turning the smooth marble surface into something skin-like, all bumpy and freckled. Chips and scuffs become scars and blemishes, there’s even what looks like a tear streak running down his right cheek, as if he’s been crying.
