BA Fine Art 2026
It is a recurring sequence. When I look in the mirror I am not myself. I go by another name. One that is close enough to my own. Consisting of three paintings and three drawings placed out in the room, on both the front and the back of the canvas, this work is an installation that explores how memory affects our perception of time and the nature of our reality. The front and the back can’t be viewed at the same time; only some parts are visible, depending on how the light hits. The paintings and drawings are based on collages made of personal photographs. These photographs have initially served the purpose of preserving a moment, becoming an archived memory. In the collages they are made more anonymous as the motifs are taken out of context or parts are cut out. The result is surrealistic pictures seeking to visualise how memory becomes an unstable lens through which we view past experiences. In this installation the pictures are instead situated to become connected and form a narrative, put in a sort of cyclical timeline without any linear chronology.
