Visual Communication

Bio

I am a 24-year-old master’s student in Visual Communication at the University of Bergen. In my projects, I explore complex issues that do not have a single answer — and perhaps no universal solution at all. In previous projects, I have examined topics such as radicalization, suicide, and the refugee crisis. These are wicked problems—complex issues with personal, societal, and political dimensions.

Hvis du hadde spurt

Have we become worse at taking care of each other? In my master’s project, I have chosen to focus on themes related to mental health.

Research shows that an increasing number of young people are struggling with mental health challenges, with the largest rise seen among young girls. Symptoms manifest as difficulty concentrating, physical pain, sleep problems, low selfesteem, restlessness, and fear of not achieving good grades.

People are often reduced to numbers, percentages, and statistics—where personal stories disappear, and the issue becomes abstract. As a designer, I want to contribute to this conversation by exploring mental health on a more personal level. To do this, I started by asking: “How are you doing?” This project is the result of the answers to that question.
