Maia Sippel Krill’s (b. 1994, Trondheim, Norway) drawings explore how external environments influence internal states. For I Only Ever Saw The Back Of It, she is showing her current workspace at KMD. Within this space, she arranges configurations that both respond to and reflect her shifting internal states. The project challenges mental walls that have taken shape over years of art education, softening beliefs about what it means to be a professional artist. Her current drawings are informed by time spent in this space. She first embosses the textures of various KMD walls onto paper, then gradually layers graphite to transform these surfaces into spaces of movement, depth, and suggested content.
