It is with immense pleasure and pride that I introduce this year’s cohort of master’s graduates in Design, whose collective achievements encapsulate the theme of ‘perspectives’ through the name ‘soup’. The profound impact of their educational journey, enriched by diverse cultures, ideas, and friendships, is truly remarkable.

‘Perspectives’ not only symbolizes the breadth of experiences they have encountered, but also acts as a poignant reflection on the evolving landscape of educational accessibility. As the final group of international students to benefit from tuition free education in Norway, their theme stands as both a celebration of their unique journey and a reminder of the significance of equal opportunities in education—a value deeply embedded in Norway’s educational philosophy.

Throughout their academic endeavors, this year’s graduates have shown an unwavering commitment to addressing relevant societal challenges. Their focus on design in context, combined with a sharp understanding of function, form, aesthetics, and ethics, highlights their dedication to creating designs that resonate with individuals and society at large. Through relentless experimentation and a steadfast pursuit of innovation, they have transformed abstract ideas into concrete solutions, mirroring the values of sustainable development, humanistic communication, and ethical practices championed by our Department of Design.

The multidimensional role of design is exemplified in their projects, which seamlessly blend technology, culture, and innovation. Their systematic approach to problem-solving, along with their creative perseverance, serves as an inspiration for devising solutions that meet the urgent needs of today and tomorrow.

As we showcase their master’s projects, I am filled with immense pride and excitement. These projects not only demonstrate a deep comprehension of the disciplines but also signify our graduates’ contributions to societal and economic advancement. To the graduates, I extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for the journey ahead—a journey brimming with promise, purpose, joy, and boundless possibilities.
