Bio

Iga Kopiec is a designer that works with visual communication, interaction, and user experience. Her interests lay in social issues, equality, environment awareness, and a humanistic approach to digital technologies. She holds a bachelor’s degree in design from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, Poland, including a year of study exchange at Bauhaus University in Weimar, Germany.

Gender equality has been a topic close to her heart, especially after 2016 when All-Poland Women's strikes began to fight brutal laws limiting women's rights. Iga’s personal passion for outdoor sports inspired her to utilize her skills as a designer and raise the issue of inequalities in “Unseen athletes”.

PROJECT TITLE

‘Unseen Athletes’

Collection of stories and numbers about women in sports.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Unseen athletes” discusses and explores women in sports. It questions the status quo of the current position of female athletes in Norway as well as in the global context. Through

data visualization and interaction, I am expressing deep concern and frustration about the imbalanced sports industry that despite progressive societies puts women in unfavorable spots. The project aims to engage the audience and inspire them to reflect on gender inequality in terms of exposure, resources, and economics in the sports world.
