Khan får prisen for sitt masterprosjekt i fagområdet Møbel- og romdesign/interiørarkitektur. Prosjektet har tittelen ‘.VÅG’ og har tatt utgangspunkt i Laksevåg bydel, som for tiden ikke har noe konkret samlingssted hvor folk kan møtes for sosiale aktiviteter utover et kjøpesenter. 

- Det er veldig hyggelig å få anerkjennelse for hardt arbeid. Jeg håper prisen kan få betydning for lokalbefolkningen på Laksevåg og at den vil hjelpe til med å rette oppmerksomheten mot behovene som finnes der så lokalsamfunnet etterhvert kan få et flott bibliotek. Mye av målet med oppgaven var å definere et problem i samarbeid med lokalbefolkningen og sammen finne en løsning på det problemet, og det er jo akkurat det design handler om, sier Murad Khan.

• This thesis explores how to meet the needs of the local population in one combined location in Laksevåg close by Bergen. The candidate Murad Khan sees this project as a measure for city development, activating an area by transforming an existing building. To amplify the effect of the transformation, the building has a hybrid solution combining several functions to facilitate for a wider usage. The thesis carefully bring the reader through thorough studies based on participation with meetings with the public and different uses, interviews, history and so on leading to a machine shop. VÅG, the heart of Laksevåg. Murad gathers information going through several case studies of libraries and mapping how people use and move in social spaces. The design process shows beautiful and explanatory illustrations, showing the progress through bubble diagrams, color and material analysis and perspectives that make the project intuitive and credible.
