Bio

Henriette Mauritz Nordbeck’s work is a process of inquiry, where materials and weaving structures are explored to create canvases that interact with light and shadow in dynamic ways. The surface responds to its surroundings—shifting with the viewer’s perspective and the changing light. Rooted in traditional damask weaving, the patterns emerge and dissolve depending on the angle of vision and lighting conditions. Once removed from the loom, the pieces are plant-dyed, resulting in a monochrome color field where variations in tone arise from the differing ways materials absorb the dye. A central part of her practice is activating nature as an equal participant. This connection to deep ecological thinking manifests in works that respond to time, weather, and place.
