Bio

Patil Abou Hanian (b. 1990, Yerevan, Armenia) is a furniture and spatial designer with a cross-cultural and international background in interior architecture.

Her exploratory spirit, ambition, and curiosity have driven her to collaborate and work across diverse multi-disciplinary projects. Her strong interest in our everyday environments drives her to explore how they impact us, especially how we interact and connect with our natural and built surroundings; a topic she has enjoyed looking closer to during her master’s studies.

Her conceptual work draws inspiration from the natural world, human experiences, sensory perceptions, playful exploration, materials, and the interplay of light and colors. Her design motivation is creating meaningful spaces which in turn create artistic experiences - based on human & social values- reflecting innovative solutions to positively influence users.

In her heart, design is a transformative tool for exploration and expression to create designs that speak not only to the eye but to the heart, soul, and body.

PROJECT TITLE

A Sea of Play And Learn

Born in the heart of Nordnes, Bergen, this project reimagines children’s relationship with nature in an educational setting. Inspired by Bergen’s nature and climate—particularly the rain—it proposes a kindergarten design where nature, sea, and rain (water) are central, blending indoor and outdoor spaces for playful interactions. It’s an educational place for children to learn and play while building a lifelong bond with nature, shaped by pedagogical theories, sensory experiences, biophilia, and the power of play. By immersing children in a nature-appreciating environment, it aims to bridge education and nature, to raise healthier, sustainable, and environmentally conscious future generations.
