Bio

I am a designer and interior architect from Drammen, Norway, with a Bachelor’s degree from KMD.

People have always fascinated me. People I'm close to, vulnerable people, people I get to know and people I  don’t know. I chose to become a designer because I wanted to work with people, and at the same time have the opportunity to be creative.

My interest in other people's perspectives and needs is the foundation for my master’s project which addresses participatory design. After a year of working as an interior architect, the need to involve people in what we do, now holds a strong significance for me.

This project aims to explore user participation through design methodology, object design and applied research.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the concept of care as a starting point, this process has taken me from how we can create more caring environments where care is absent, to how we can utilize user participation as a method to create caring surroundings.

This thesis deals with the concept of participation and examines how interior architects and designers interpret, use, and understand user participation. Through a large experimental process, I investigate what methods involve the user, and how we can implement these methods in the field of design.
