Bio

Bergen based artist and designer, Helen Emily, born in Madrid in 1998, has been  developing her skills as a interior and furniture designer for the past years. After  studying Fine Arts in Madrid, she realized that art can be much more than just a  unique piece that you go see somewhere, but something you can benefit from  experiencing in ordinary life. That’s when she decided to study a master in spatial  design, to be able to explore the power of art and design in physical and social  environments and their effect in well-being. She is greatly inspired by sculpture,  which allows to engage in space, scale, volume and more.

PROJECT TITLE

‘The Art of Play: How furniture can promote emotional well-being.’

In times where younger generations are struggling emotionally now more than ever,  this project explores the importance of interaction in the home environment and  how furniture can promote our well-being.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

This projects explores the power that art and design have in creating safe  environments. Our homes, —the scenario in which we live every day—both  physically (the surroundings) and socially (the interactions), play an important role  in our emotional well-being. Therefore, in the context of nowadays stimulating  technology and social media, this research work is about how furniture can  construct a good and positive interaction to impact our emotional wellbeing.
