Bio

Growing up in a multicultural country allows me to immerse myself in different languages, races, cultures, colours and ethos, thereby reinforcing my observational skills in everyday life and fostering creativity in my design works.

With a background in filmmaking, storytelling has become the core of my practice. Through both analogue and digital media, I use diverse materials, shapes, colours, and transitions to interpret them into design forms.

Stories are often hidden in the mundane aspects of our daily lives, and I bring them to light through storytelling. My aim is to evoke emotions and create resonance with people.

PROJECT TITLE

‘Under the Roof Tiles’

Using memory as a validation to understand the cultural context and my identity, opening up a self-dialogue through animation and book design.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Memory, for me, is an intangible fleeting mist but it constantly shapes my past.

The past, for me, is a river of accumulated time that gradually moulds my identity.

Under the Roof Tiles is rooted in the memories between myself and my grandmother. Through the texture and the shape of memory, I explored how my grandmother’s river of inheritance has flown through generations and how it has shaped my cultural identity; it is a metaphor of home, showing my appreciation for the people and the artefacts in the family.
