Bio

Ask Kvamme (b.1998, Bergen, Norway) is a visual designer who specialises in illustrative work, risography and animation. Their work often involves themes on personal identity and they are passionate about colours and storytelling. This is further showcased in their Bachelor’s project, an animation concerning themes of gender dysphoria, completed at KMD in 2022. Their favourite shark is the Lemon Shark.

PROJECT TITLE

XBINARY — Visualising life in the 'other' category

‘XBINARY’ is an experimental illustrative project within the field of visual communication. Printed with risography, hand-stitched and made through the method of visual journaling. The aim of the project is to open up a space for understanding through sharing, and healing through relatability. The project results in a graphic novel that illuminates life in the ‘other’ category, and visualises how it is to live as a non-binary person, based on the author’s own experiences.
