Bio

Papa Kofi Yirrah (b. 1998, Takoradi, Ghana) is a visual designer specialising in graphic design, web design, illustration, and motion design. He approaches design from a research-led perspective and values the importance of context in the creative process.

Yirrah considers design to be a potent tool for sharing ideas, encouraging reflection, and inspiring action. As such, he is always seeking out new ways to communicate through visual design while smudging the already blurred line between art and design.

He has a BA in Economics and International Relations from Lancaster University and an MA in Design from University of Bergen — KMD Faculty.

When he’s not designing, Papa Kofi usually finds himself thinking about design or curating design inspiration. He also enjoys visiting art exhibitions, watching movies, playing football, eating good food, and working out.

PROJECT TITLE

Utopian Descent

‘Utopian Descent’ is a visual storytelling project navigating the intersection between personal identity, authenticity, and deepfake technology. The project combines static and animated media to illustrate the loss of personhood that could arise as AI-powered deepfake technology becomes increasingly accessible. Papa Kofi’s goals for this project are to encourage a critical assessment of the future of personal identity within the context of AI deepfakes and to emphasize the need for legislation that protects our identities. Additionally, he aims at establishing and expressing his visual style through this project.
