Monday Lectures at the Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design, University of Bergen is pleased to invite you all to the public lecture “Notes Toward an Abolitionist Museum of Palestine in Bergen and Beyond” by Ayreen Anastas and Rene Gabri.

Is art consigned to reproduce and glorify cultures premised on ongoing forms of supremacist, colonial, racial, patriarchal, capitalist forms of violence? Is art a tool of ecocidal, genocidal, denialist cultures or a means to explore, rehearse and nourish our means to abolish and delink from them? In the midst of a two year long intensification of genocide in Palestine, the artists Ayreen Anastas and Rene Gabri will join to share and reflect on some of these questions. As they are here for opening the Bergen chapter of the Communist Museum of Palestine, they hope to consider horizons and proposals for reclaiming art outside the enclosing and carceral logics that have been imposed upon it.

Ayreen Anastas and Rene Gabri are two artists and caregivers of a multiplicity of communally determined processes including the Convivial Museum of Palestine. For more information on the museum, please visit: communistmuseum.org
