Tenthaus (est. 2009) is an Oslo-based art collective working at the intersection of socially engaged art and collective practice. Originating in educational contexts, Tenthaus has developed into a network that includes an exhibition space, discursive programmes, a radio platform, and a mobile residency studio. Their projects prioritise dialogue, long-term relationships, and context-specific approaches to learning and making.
This talk will focus on P1, Tenthaus’ mobile studio, tracing its trajectories as it has moved from schools into broader public spaces, testing new forms of artistic encounter and pedagogy. We will also look at how P1 hosts the Communist Museum of Palestine, a dispersed and decentralized museum by Ayreen Anastas and Rene Gabri that reimagines collective memory l. Presented within the framework of Tenthaus’ collaboration with Bergen Assembly 2025, P1 invites a reflection on how art as education and education as art can reconfigure cultural infrastructures, sustain memory beyond institutions, and expand the role of collectives in shaping public and political life.
Belén Santillán is an Ecuadorian artist and educator based in Oslo. Her work explores the intersections of art and critical pedagogy, focusing on collective learning and institutional imagination. She is part of Tenthaus, where she contributes to the artistic coordination of P1, the collective’s international residency and public program.
