The Group Crit is a film by Sille Storihle and students from the Nordland Art and Film School—a pedagogical and cinematic experiment. It humorously explores group critique as a form of education.
Group critique is a common method in many film and art schools, where students receive feedback from their peers and instructors on work they present. In The Group Crit, this process is explored through a LARP (live-action role-playing game), designed by Storihle and performed by students from the Nordland Art and Film School. The players act based on written characters, and everything is filmed by students "in character." The result is a sharp, at times humorous, and boundary-pushing film that highlights relevant societal issues while challenging traditional filmmaking practices.
