Monday Lectures (on a Tuesday)

Arild Våge Berge (b.1983) comes from the north west of Norway and has a background as a landscape photographer. His practice includes photography, sculpture, text and video. Coming from a family of hydro power engineers, his works explore topics like technology, landscape and temporal narratives, manifested as geological processes. While treating matter as a topic in itself, Arild also brings it into tension with historical context and personal experiences. Arild´s projects are often archive-based and his methods include re-mediation of documents, questioning the status of objects and challenging the way landscapes are understood. Among recent productions are object based sculptures that investigate his engineering heritage, artist books that layer archival documents of various origin and series of photographs that explore the threshold between nature and culture.

Arild holds a Bachelors degree in photography and Masters degree in fine art from KMD, where he currently also works as MA coordinator in the department of fine art.

The lecture will go into Arild's works reflecting on the topics mentioned above.
