How does intuition and the intellect function to express a larger sense of conciousness in the world? In this presentation, the interdisciplinary research team will translate activity of the brain into a sonorous landscpae using fNIRS (Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy) helmets. First performing the composition Kurei (Net) for two recorders, visual artist and live electronics, the research team will integrate neuroscience, composition, visual art and music technology to create a new kind of aesthetic experience using neurofeedback. After the performance, the research team will thendiscuss the creation of music for the brain, looking into how brain functionality and artistic metaphor connect, as well as their plans for the future.
