Friday the 1st of December at 19.00: Clarinet class concert
The Grieg Academy’s clarinet class perform works by Weber, Mozart, Spohr, Bartok and Stravinsky among others, accompanied by pianist Tor Erik Seime Pettersen.

Saturday the 2nd of December at 19.00: Irina Tarasova, clavichord and fortepiano
First year Master student Irina Tarasova performs music by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and Joseph Haydn on clavichord and fortepiano respectively – two historic keyboard instruments with their own distinctive sound and playing technique.

Tuesday the 5th of December at 19.00: Marina Matsuoka, piano
First year Master student Marina Matsuoka plays works by Rameau and Chopin – as well as hommages to both these composers by Debussy and Grieg respectively.

Wednesday the 6th of December at 19.00: GA Sinfonietta
Another concert in the Grieg Academy’s “Sinfonietta” series – this time with music by local composers Torstein Aagard-Nielsen and Ketil Hvoslef as well as Paul Hindemith. Performers: Ricardo Odriozola and Terézia Mušutová (violin), Sara Evensen (viola), Johanna Saaek and Karina Medvetska (cello), Sigbjørn Forland and Sigurd Mosbakk (piano), and Øyvind Dahl Paulsen (percussion).

Thursday the 7th of December at 14.00, Room A417, The Grieg Academy: Eva Pfitzenmaier, voice
Exam concert with self-composed and improvised music by Master student and vocal improvisator Eva Pfitzenmaier. Stephan Meidell will also be performing on modular synth. Entrance to the performance via the Grieg Academy’s main entrance in Lars Hilles gt. 3.

Thursday the 7th of December at 18.00, Bergen Public library: House concert
Professor Hilde Haraldsen Sveen’s vocal students will take care of the last library concert this term. They present a varied program, partly with a touch of Christmas: Songs by, among others, Engelbert Humperdinck, Max Reger, Georg Friedrich Händel, Claude Debussy and Fartein Valen. Turid Bakke Braut and several of the Grieg Academy’s piano students will accompany.

Thursday the 7th of December at 19.00: Inga Bialach, violin           -Cancelled -
First year Master student Inga Bialach performs the first movement of Mendelssohn’s violin concerto, “The Lark Ascending” by Vaughan Williams and excepts from a solo partita by J.S.Bach. Torleif Torgersen accompanies on the piano.

Friday the 8th of December at 16.30: Blazej Wasiak, clarinet
First year Master student Blazej Wasiak performs works by Weber, Schumann and Stravinsky at his Master performance. Tor Erik Seime Pettersen accompanies.

Friday the 8th of December at 19.00: Adria Torres Amoros, clarinet (Final Master degree concert)
Clarinetist Adria Torres Amoros concludes his Master degree studies at the  Grieg Academy with this concert, where he performs works by Salvador Brotons, Ludwig Spohr and Helmut Lachenmann. Tor Erik Seime Pettersen accompanies on piano.

Saturday the 9th of December at 14.00: The Grieg Academy Talent Program (GUT)
The Grieg Academy Talent Program belongs to the National Talent Development Program, and is offered to young musicians at the age of 13 to 19 who have come particularly far on their instrument. Performances at the concert will include both solo repertoire, chamber music and jazz.

Monday the 11th of December at 19.30: Terézia Mušutová, violin
First year Master student Terézia Mušutová performs Grieg’s violin sonata number 2, as well as works by Ketil Hvoslef and Ernest Chausson. Torleif Torgersen accompanies on the piano.

Tuesday the 12th of December at 19.00: Concert and research presentation by Christian Stene, clarinet
The Grieg Academy’s Artistic research phd candidate and clarinetist Christian Stene plays works by Arnold, Brahms and Schumann accompanied by Torleif Torgersen. Christian will also present the development in his phd project «(Re)Phrasing—Shaping Music with Modern Instruments».

Wednesday the 13th of December at 17.00: Kari Knudsen, violin and Kateryna Persysta, piano
Two of the Grieg Academy’s first year Master students join forces with their first term performances to make it a longer concert program. Kari Knudsen on violin will start the concert, playing Grieg’s violin sonata no 1 accompanied by Tor Erik Seime Pettersen – and then excerpts of Bach’s solo partita no 3 in E major. Kateryna Persysta the follows with solo repertoire for piano, composed by Grieg, Silvestrov, Chopin and the Turkish composer Fazil Say.

Wednesday the 13th of December at 19.00: Piano class concert
Professor Einar Røttingen’s piano students play works by Haydn, Chopin, Skrjabin and Brahms. Performers: Sigbjørn Forland, Sigurd Mosbakk, Sølve Andre Håvik and Theodor Odland.

Thursday the 14th of December at 18.00: Recorder class concert
Associate professor (and vice dean) Jostein Gundersen’s recorder students play a varied program of Renaissance trios and solo pieces from the Baroque era as well as contemporary works.

Tuesday the 19th of December at 19.00: : «Bits&Pieces»
The ensemble “Currentes”, lead by associate professor and vice dean for research Jostein Gundersen, perform a number of «pièces» - French character pieces from the Baroque era. The character piece was a favourite format of French composers at the time. The pieces would tend to be places in more or less fixed orders, “suites”. Even if the character pieces in these suites often would be connected to dances, like the courante, sarabande or gigue, the character or atmosphere of these short pièces would often be connected to a feeling or a place.

Performers: Jostein Gundersen, recorder, Mikko Perkola, viola da gamba, Thor-Harald Johnsen, theorbe and Ingrid Eriksen Hagen, harpsichord.
