January is here, and after a long holiday, the concert programme is not as action-packed as it was in December. BUT there is still some activities going on both among master’s students and others who have a repertoire they would like to present. Welcome to the concerts- as usual there is free entrée everywhere.

Wednesday 10th of January at 17.00: Elise T. Varne, soprano
Concert performance with first-year master's student Elise Thorgersen Varne, with a program where children's songs for adults are in focus: The song cycles "Kinderstube" by Modest Mussorgskij and "Suite of Bairnsongs" by Thea Musgrave. Knut Christian Jansson accompanies.

Sunday 14th of January at 18.00: Intimate student concert with piano and violin
Piano students Kristian Skår, Sølve Håvik and Signe Bjovatn have brought along fellow student Heidi Lyngholm on violin for this concert. The program includes a violin sonata by Mozart as well as solo and four-hand piano works by J.S. Bach, Robert Schumann and Edvard Grieg.

Monday 15th of January at 19.00 in Bergen Domkirke: Martin Halla, vocals
Master's student and jazz vocalist Martin Halla has given his first master's concert project the title "focus 24 – disconnected". Solo, acoustic and a mixture of composed and improvised expression.

Tuesday 16 January at 20.00 in Prøvesalen, Grieg Academy: New Year's concert with the student conductors

Dragefjellet's music corps invites you to a New Year's concert led by the conducting students of the Grieg Academy. There will be a varied programme, i.a. with soloists from the Grieg Academy's singing class. Public entrance is from Entrance A at the Grieg Academy (at the innermost right of the school grounds). Welcome!

Wednesday 24th of January at 18.30 in Studio B, Grieg Academy: Henning Hodne Mjanger, jazz guitar
First-year master's student Henning Hodne Mjanger is accompanied by Ole Marius Sandberg on double bass and Herman Kirkenær Krogh on drums. A short concert set with the main emphasis on self-composed music. NB! Entrance to the concert venue from GA's main entrance in Lars Hillesgt. 3.

Thursday 25th of January at 18.00 at Bergen public library: House concert
This years’ first concert in collaboration with Bergen Offentlige Bibliotek is with the Grieg Academy Jazz-Brass: Runa Underhaug - trumpet, Katrine Helland - trumpet, Vemund Styve - mellophone and Billy goat horn, Alfred Wammer - trombone, Iver Aalbu Alvsåker - trombone, Sondre Ross Folkestad - tuba. Led by Hildegunn Øiseth who will perform too on trumpet and Billy goat horn. 
Place: «Vårt Vestland», 2. etg at the Main library.
