Issue Press is an independent tiny publisher and risograph print shop in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Since 2011, George Wietor has through Issue Press used print and publishing to explore how small-scale, independent production can create space for voices, ideas and expressions that exist outside the frameworks of commercial publishing or institutional gatekeeping.
In this talk, George shares insights from more than a decade of making room for the informal, the personal and the unapologetic – through zines, books and collective initiatives like Stencil.Wiki and the North American Riograph Conference (NARC). His work highlights how publishing can be an act of autonomy, care, and community – and how print continues to offer a place for the things that don’t fit elsewhere.
The event is free and open to everyone. We look forward to seeing you!
