STUDIO Residency #6: Gareth Neal

In STUDIO Residency, the departments at KMD can invite artists and professionals to work in Bergen with projects related to studio practice.

Gareth Neal is in STUDIO residence with the department of Design from 15. april!

We are looking extremely forward to welcoming designer-maker Gareth Neal as STUDIO resident April 15-26 with the department of Design! Rumours say that Gareth is planning to work on a new chair, and Design's Ørjan Djønne will provide him with some locally grown logs.

Monday April 22, Neal will present his practice in the Design in Context lecture series.

Neal's practice has been labelled "a new type of hacking". It connects historical and contemporary design with technology and the environmentally conscious. Neal is fascinated by process, both of the latest high-end digital fabrication and traditional craft techniques.

Gareth Neal graduated from Buckinghamshire University in 1996 with a BA Honours in Furniture Design and Craftsmanship. His work is featured in numerous publications and exhibitions, both in the UK and internationally. Explore more at https://www.garethneal.co.uk/

STUDIO is a KORO project at KMD that explores studio practice and work processes within art, music and design, curated by Hild Borchgrevink and Merete Røstad with a working group at KMD.
