Curators who take a strong interest in writing (any genre, including creative writing) are invited to apply for a two-part workshop focused on developing six curators’ writing styles and enhance their voices.

The six finished texts will be published in a forthcoming anthology published by an internationally acknowledged publisher.

This is a unique opportunity to take part in an international community of writers.

The workshops and publication are part of the research project Interweaving Structures: Fabric as Material, Method, and Message. There will be a focus on interpretation and analysis of textiles as a medium of criticality represented in the work of contemporary artists. In this context textiles cease to be historical documents and become a commentary on important and relevant sociopolitical phenomena.

Working and writing language is English.

The writing community is led by Anne Szefer Karlsen, professor in curatorial practice at The Art Academy – Department of Contemporary Art, Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design, University of Bergen, who will be accompanied by four internationally acclaimed writers.

HOW TO JOIN?

Please send a letter of interest (800–1000 words) and a short bio in one PDF, as well as a PDF or link to one piece of published writing. Please submit this in one email with two separate attachments to Anne Szefer Karlsen, ask@uib.no. Deadline to apply is 1 June 2022, 5 pm CET. Please state your name in the subject line.
